General Info

Tucked away in the scenic setting of Filz 24, 6364 Brixen im Thale, Austria, Filzalm Jausenstation feels like the kind of restaurant you stumble upon and instantly want to tell everyone about. The location alone sets the tone-peaceful, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed lunch stop. From the moment you arrive, the laid-back atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy everything this charming spot has to offer.

The menu leans into comforting, traditional flavors, and it truly shines in its execution. One of the standout dishes is the Kaiserschmarrn-light, fluffy, and slightly caramelized, it’s the kind of dessert you don’t want to share. On the savory side, the Käsespätzle Mit Salat brings together rich, cheesy noodles with a fresh, balanced salad that cuts through the richness just right. If you’re feeling hungry after a long morning, the Brettljause is a satisfying choice, offering a hearty spread that feels both rustic and indulgent.

What really impressed me, though, was the Kaspressknödelsuppe. It’s warm, comforting, and packed with flavor-exactly what you’d hope for when dining in a cozy Austrian restaurant like this. And of course, you can’t leave without trying the Apfelstrudel. It’s classic, done right, and pairs beautifully with a drink from their alcohol selection, making for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch experience.

Speaking of lunch, Filzalm Jausenstation is clearly designed with daytime visitors in mind. Whether you’re stopping by mid-hike or just exploring the area, the restaurant offers a welcoming place to recharge. The wheelchair accessible parking lot adds convenience, ensuring that the location is easy to reach for all guests. Plus, if you’re traveling with your furry companion, you’ll be glad to know that dogs are allowed-something that instantly makes the place feel even more friendly and inclusive.

From my experience, the reviews you hear about this spot really do match reality. The combination of a thoughtfully curated menu, a comfortable setting, and attentive service makes it stand out among other restaurants in the area. It’s not just about the food-it’s about the overall experience, from the moment you arrive to the last bite of dessert.

What customers say?

“ Beautiful little Alm with some great views, friendly staff and really nice food. Authentic tirolian food freshly made just like it should be. Although it is our first day of vacation I am quite sure this is a contender for best Alm during our three weeks stay ”

“ Pleasant place to eat and drink outside. Enjoyed English tea. ”

“ A small but charming cabin away from the hustle and bustle... a little tricky to find. The Kaiserschmarrn was sensational... and the soup with Kaspressknödel was equally delicious. ”

- Stephan Neubrand -

“ We stopped here for a break while skiing. The weather wasn't great, so we wanted to sit inside. The alpine hut is one of those truly rustic, cozy places. The food is all freshly prepared, and despite the limited space, the service is extremely friendly and relaxed. Unfortunately, the beer prices at the huts are outrageous these days. Be warned, the delicious Kaiserschmarrn isn't a small dessert but a portion that could easily feed two. ”

- Andreas Boltz -

“ A wonderful atmosphere, they now accept card payments, prices are reasonable, but the portions are more than generous – I couldn't even finish my Käsespätzle! The hut is absolutely lovely and very cozy. We would definitely come back. There was a wide selection of homemade dishes and daily specials. Delicious! ”

- Benjamin Lehmann -

“ A very nice mountain hut, a 15-20-minute walk from the Brixen i. Thale mid-station. My meal (Gröstel) was very tasty, but the fried potatoes were very dry. My friend's soup was unfortunately only lukewarm. The bacon bread and three kinds of dumplings were very tasty. The service tried to be friendly, but unfortunately, it wasn't the kind of personable and motivated service we usually appreciate and are used to in Tyrol. ”

“ We were there three years ago and ate the world's best Kaiserschmarren, so we made the trek up the mountain to eat at your restaurant again. The service was top-notch, it simply couldn't be better. The food was absolutely fantastic, the Kaiserschmarren was incredible! I hope it won't be another three years before we can make it back up to you. You're a great team, incredibly friendly. We'll definitely be back... I would give you even more stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The price-performance ratio is totally fair and simply superb . We were back again and, of course, had another delicious meal . Once again, all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our skis ran out on our bikes, and you helped us incredibly quickly. Even though I was a few euros short of the payment, it wasn't a problem at all; we simply came back the next day and paid the difference. Since there's no ATM upstairs anymore and card payments aren't possible yet, it's important to have enough cash on hand. But we'll be back and are already looking forward to seeing you. Please stay as warm and welcoming as you are. Thank you for the wonderful day we spent with you today. ”

“ Highly recommended for cyclists (charging station including adapters for all batteries available) and hikers. We had a super delicious cheese dumpling soup, and the snack board is also highly recommended. Very helpful and friendly service (even allowed us to charge our iPhone). We'll be happy to include this hut in our next outing. ”
